Re. Check caching - just FYI, now-a-days, they copy the check, convert it to EFT and destroy the original so getting case number from copy may not work.
Also do I write A# on back of photos or something else? Any idea if there are restrictions for using pen or pencil or such?

I did not get the case number from the hard copy but the electronic copy which I can access from my online account information.
I did write my husbands A# on the back of the photo in pencil if I remember rightly but just so that it did not push through the imprint on the photo itself.
Believe in yourself. I filed both mine and my spouse's adjustment of status packet myself and we have our green cards without any requests for evidence. If you have read the instructions and followed them, filled all the blank spaces in on the form and supplied all the other documents etc that are needed you are doing fine. This RFE is about G-325. In that document, you would have mentioned that you have lived in MN, WA and TX for the last 5 years. And your employer must be in IL. The USCIS is using the information that is provided by you, in simple terms, against you.
The IO at USCIS whoever is adjudicating your I-485 application must have gone through your past H1B petitions where the LCA(s) will be found. The LCA mentions for which location your H1B petition is filed for. If the LCA(s) mention your location of work as IL, then you are in trouble.
The lawyer can argue that the employer is responsible for LCA and its amendments. But the burden of proof is on you since I-485 is your petition. Good luck to you.

I have read many threads that discusses the pros and cons of using EAD over H1 and the common benefit that everyone mentions is that the salary is usually better for a person on an EAD. I spoke to several people who've started using their EAD and realized that even though it opened up opportunities with companies that do not have a policy of sponsoring H1, it DID NOT give them a boost in the salary.
My question is how do people intend to leverage on having an EAD for a higher salary?

1 - if u have any new h1 approval notice after you came to US , then yr i-94 number will be same in approval notice , normally the last i94 and recent aproval notice 194 matches , u can cross check from there

I am pretty pretty sure most of us have a lot of H1b friends we can talk to about immigration voice and bring them on board.
Join this effort and make a difference. Joining at the last moment when legislative debate is taking place may be too late a time to join and bring more members.
Email me at jay@Immigrationvoice.org and you can start helping today. All we need is 45 minutes of your time per day for a few days until we reach a 10,000 volunteer mark.
Help us make this chain-recruitment work. We cannot have the same few 20 people trying to bring new people on board coz those 20-25 members dont have unlimited friends they know who CAN be involved in this.

This is not correct. you can apply for 1 year extensions if you have applied for 485 and is pending.

A2. It is NOT advisable to take the immigration attorney with you IF your case is clear, i.e. no out of status etc. When we went for the interview, the officer clearly told us that you did good by not having an attorney - they get annoyed by them :). As soon as he realized that we didn't have anybody representing us, he was way more relaxed than with other people who had representation.
A3. Yes, they can and will approve on the spot if they are satisfied with your answers!
A4. Yes, they can stamp the passport if they approve it - in my case, they approved it but couldn't stamp the passport because my PD was not current. He said, you will get the card as soon as your PD becomes current.
Just relax and take all the necessary documentation with you - and be absolutely confident in your answers. Oh, and btw, I was also promoted when we went for the interview and that doesn't make any difference - as long as you are employed (same company is better).

We filed for 485's in July 2007 and our 485's were transferred to National Benefits Center in 2008. I was promoted hence my title is different now from what was filed on the Labor application and job duties only changed a little bit. My petitioner is the same,
Couple of questions -
Will they interview my wife & I together ?
Is it advisable to take the immigration attorney with us for the interview.?
Can the IO approve the case on the spot.?
Can IO stamp the passport since my PD is current.?
If somebody can direct me to any recent experiences for folks who did have interviews - that would be really helpful.

IO would not give I-94 for more than 6 months (180 days). The moment your parents cross 185 days of stay in the US, you can claim them as your dependents for tax purposes. They do not want that to happen. Are you thinking in those terms?

Where did you go to renew your licence (what state)?
I went for Driver licence renewal.I have I797 H1B notice of approval for 2 more years.But I don't have it stamped in passport.So when they see it,they said they won't consider it as visa on passport is not valid and expired.Though I am not using ,I have valid EAD card also.So When I shown it ,they renewd my licence.Now I am thinking,is it ok If I use my EAD card for licence renewal as I am not using EAD status now.I want to be on H1B only.I don't want to use EAD now. can anybody tell me will it be alright to use EAD?Does it effect anywhere in my status?

thanks munnabhai. I have read somewhere that if I/140 is approved and visa is unavailable then H1 can be extended for 3 yrs. Correct me if its not true.
Eligible for 3 years if I140 is approved and you can't file I485 because of retrogression. But you said , you had already filed I485. I doubt you are eligible for 3 year extension.

I guess 485 getting current does not help much without getting i-140 approved.
It certainly helps some so their spouses can work on an EAD. And it definitely helps everyone if one needs to invoke AC21. But yes, a I-485 is not going to get approved if I-140 is pending.

If a partial medical exam is done, for how long is that partial exam results valid ? I heard six months in the past.... Is that true ?
