I have been following this ongoing decision closely. I feel that going on EAD offers no disadvantage when compared with h1b extension (once 140 is approved and 6 months have passed).
just like h1b you can stay on top to get it renewed every year. Unless one is a bachelor and plans to get the spouse on h4, chamging to EAD doesn't cause any harm. I know a lot of friends who have been on EAD for several years now and have not had a single problem. Th only risk is that if the 485 is rejected, then you have no shelter. But that chance is soooooooo little and i think the 485 rejection only occurs if one is considered to have broken a law, commited a felony or has been in any legal problems.
I am on h1 andhave 2 years and am planning to go on EAD- atleast i can save those 2 years and if some thing happens with my 485, i think i can get h1 sponsored. I don't think so its a one way street (h1 to EAD).

Just call your local AAA office and they will tell you everything.. Mostly they take photo in main local office.
If you are plus member you get free 8 photos. I guess for regular member you will 6.
Do they also take digital pics? I have already got photos taken from CVS...and they said its passport pics.......do I still need to take from AAA?

It mentions that in any of the incorrect filing, cases will be rejected...
does that mean I-485 is rejected for good or one cannot apply it again until PD becomes current in future?

I remember getting a similar email for H1B some 2-3 years back even though my H1 was approved and I already received the I797. No issues though, they just sent another I797. :)

The problem might occur when you file for citizenship, you have to justify why you dint work after getting the GC. However it is not written in stone that if you dont work for your petitioning company the officer will deny your citizenship or revoke your GC. They will look at the totality of the circumstances, since you worked for the petitioner for some time, they may not make a determination that the job offer was speculative, you have to show that you had every intention of working for them and the company had every intention of hiring you, maybe they can give a letter stating that they continue to market you and will re-hire as soon as the economy imporves. If your company finds a project for you, you should continue to work for them. Or you could have done AC-21 after the I-140 was approved and before the I-485 was approved.

Call the toll free number (877-CBP-5511 ) of the customs and border patrol (Questions/Customer Service - CBP.gov (http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/toolbox/contacts/customer_service.xml)). They can give you the location and number of your local city's office. Call your local city customs office and identify yourself using passport number. They may ask you some basic questions to verify your identity.
Inform the officer about the query from USCIS and ask them to give you the I-94 number, validity date. They wont give you a physical copy of I-94, but they will certainly tell you the I-94 number and expiry date. While responding to the RFE from USCIS, you can say that - "I-94 is taken back while leaving the country. Based on the call with Customs and Border patrol on so and so date and time, the I-94 number is blaw and validatity date is blaw blaw"
Your attorney should be able to write the above message in legal language. I had a similar RFE and I was able to call customs office and get all my I-94 information. Need some information on studies while on EAD. I am a EB3 (Aug 2004) and so my daughter too. She is in final year of her graduation and applying for Med schools after a competitive score in MCATs. Got a rejection from Arkansas college as she is not a GC holder yet. So I was wondering if anyone studying medicine on EAD?
Most of the colleges wont say about eligibility while applying and the application does not have a immigration category for AOS, it has Dependent, F1, GC and others. We had to go with Others option, ofcourse specified about AOS in rermarks.

Our current immigration problems are a great reason to unite, to strive to achieve a worthwhile goal. Sure we're facing challenges but, in my opinion, we have a lot to be grateful for. One has only to read the aforementioned CNN article to see just how tough life can be when it chooses to be. My green card problems (only mine, not yours) certainly seem trivial compared to the lifetime of pain life has visited upon those women. Read it-say a prayer for those less fortunate souls-and then resume the struggle with renewed determination.

Hi Friends.
I got the pink slip 3 weeks back with one month severance. So my target was to secure the job in one month to avoid loss of pay. Finally secured the job with 3 offers from 3 top companies.
Some tips if it may be helpful to others , that I recently expereinced
1. Read your resume thoroughly and see if there are anything that you can improve and make the resume with the core skills, do not make the resume of mix of different profiles, like dba, architect, project manager, make them all seperate.
2. Try to make the submission to the direct employer or recruiter on top of the chain. You can do that finding contacts on linked in.
3. Do not compromise a lot, this makes these recruiters to think that you are vulnerable for any exploitation, (happened with me, I kicked there butt after getting selected and telling them on why did I do that)

Currently, the Senate debate schedule remains the last two weeks of May and these groups started acting up to pave a way for building a lofty wall against or smoothens the road for passage of this legislation. The Catholic community is very charged in support of the bill and actively lobbying both openly and behind the scenes to work with the legislators. People sometimes question why the Catholic community acts as one of the front lobbying forces for the CIR. You guessed it. Hispanics are Catholics and the CIR will tremendously expand the horizen of their constituents and its power base in the national political arena. Twelve or thirteen millions are not a small number. The same question is also raised relating to the AFL-CIO, labor unions. Again, you guessed it. The low-end industries and illegal aliens that will benefit from legalization are charaterized as workforces that belong to the organized unions. This is contrasted to the high-end industries and professional workers that are not by nature tightly organized into the unions. For the reasons, the unions tend to support the CIR, unlike the high-tech worker bills, to take advantage of expanding its membership and power base through the to-be-newly-recruited members of the unions. Aha...... Immigration proponents hope to see that legal immigration supporters and illegal immigration supporters quickly find a bed to share and become bed-partners such that the immigration reform legislation will move along more smoothly avoiding internal feuds and conflicts in the community.

hi i got an RFE for ability to pay, my pay was 55K ( it had to be 66K ) last year 2006 on my W2, my RFE asked me on ability to pay where my labor was approved on feb2006, so i had to show that my employer has the ability to pay till date.
So my lawyer, wrote a simple letter to the USCIS, that my current paystubs shoed that my employer is paying me the salary ( i have it on 66K this year 2007 ) also he sent my employers tax records, he has a good profit, and then my 2 recent paystubes & my last years w2
