CITI Bank usually send the 1099. But if you have account with ICICI or some other Indian Banks they do not send it. Also check if your bank in India deducting Tax (Usually called as TDS) on interest you earn. That amount you can deduct on US tax return as foreign taxes paid.

I did a concurrent submission of I140 and I485 on July 2nd. As and when the 140 PP comes back, can I get PP done even though I have already sent my application?
Yes. You can change your application from regular to PPS at any time provided USCIS is accepting PPS for that category ( such as for I-140).

Sweet_jungle, I am in a similar situation. My attorney sent a request to TSC 3 months back to fix the PD but no response yet. What did you do to open the obmudsman inquiry? Did you send him an email or did you send him a letter in the email
Ombudsman responded saying that my PD is the older PD. Looks like the earlier response was an error.

Actually the reply I got was from the attorney(who is HR head I believe) of the non-profit organization itself. What I was told that some companies do accept volunteers but due to ignorance of law on their part.
Volunteering itself means one is not paid for. But H4s cannot volunteer in their own field of expertise. This is what I understood.
Anyway I am planning to file my H1 this year.

I sumited my wife's & my I140 and I485 together in this July 2nd, 2007. I'm the primary applicant and in EB3 category. I already got receipt and the requesting for fingerprinting. If i file a divorce now does it going to have any effect on my processing?

If you have an approved I-140, you can port the PD as long as your original sponsor does not withdraw his petition. Since your company is being acquired (as opposed to you quitting on your own) it is highly unlikely that your petition will be withdrawn. So as long as you continue doing a similar job as the one for which the LC position was advertised you should be fine.

The DREAM Act, after narrowly passing in the House of Representatives, failed to get the necessary 60 votes in the Senate required to overcome a threatened GOP filibuster. Comprehensive immigration reform never even came to a vote in the last Congress.
What will the outlook be for immigration legislation in the 112th Congress which convenes beginning on January 3, 2011?
The biggest change will be in the House of Representatives where the majority, and the committee chairmanships, will change from Democrats to Republicans.

Lamarsmith The new Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee will be Representative Lamar Smith (R-TX). On December 9th, Rep. Smith outlined his priorities for immigration policy as follows:
"The enforcement of our immigration laws is critical to the security and prosperity of our state and nation. The House Judiciary Committee should enact policies that will better secure our borders and discourage illegal immigration, human smuggling and drug trafficking.

When Rep. Bobby Rush (D-Il), a former Blank Panther from the south side of Chicago, pushed for a special bill to allow a hospital in his poverty-ridden district to employ foreign-born nurses, Rep. Smith agreed to co-sponsor a bill with him which created the H-1C program for RNs. And although only a handful of hospitals across the country met the law's strict criteria, some of the qualifying hospitals are located in Rep. Smith's district.
And when a hospital in his district desperately needed to hire a Canadian physician, Rep. Smith introduced an amendment to the immigration laws in 1991 which lifted the ban on foreign-born physicians being able to qualify for H-1B visas.
So, perhaps the door is not completely closed to any positive immigration legislation in 2011 and 2012.
Time will tell.

We have a wealth of information from A to Z on US Immigration, why dont we ourselves write articles and editorials and get them published in the News Papers, Journals, etc?
Why are we waiting for some one to come to us and take information to write articles on us. Does Newspapers check the background of authors to verify if they are citizens/non-citizens/green card holders/ H1B's. What all matters to them is quality and authenticity of the articles.
Do you folks think this a good option to pursue?

Yes. You can file another FOIA to get the I-140 approval notice.
You want to specify that you're looking for a copy of I-797 of the I-140 approval for receipt number LINXXXXXXXXXX. That should get you the approval notice.
A friend filed the FOIA with this verbiage and it worked for him. Of-course, he had to reference his Alien number etc... in the G-639 form.

Has anyone managed to withdraw money from TCS PF from Mumbai India?

No forms would work because like a typical family owned blood sucker company, their PF is controlled by another TATA company and not the central govt. AND to get your hard earned money out of that another company, you need a clearance letter signed by some TCS HR personnel ..
You could see if the amount is worth going through the agony of talking to all BS..ing top brass in the company.. If it is, then make your heart of steel and go through it..
they would keep some money as their tip.. (maybe 20%) but give the remaining back to you..

I'm a Jul 02 filer and I received the 485 and 765 notices recently.
However, the PRIORITY DATE cell in receipts for both 485 & 765 is BLANK. Is this the usual practice? Shouldn't my PD be populated on these receipt notices?
