This is definitely one of those "what language should I learn threads?", but I'm not a beginner. Let me give a little background: I graduated in 2007 with a degree in computer technology (not science) with a focus on software development and web development. While in school, I hired on with an automotive supplier as a contracted radio technician with hopes of getting my foot in the door with writing software. It's taken a while, but I'm now getting ready to be trained in our next product we're working on and will possibly be writing test scripts in C# .NET. I'm looking forward to the experience and knowledge I will gain but long-term, it's not where my passion is. I enjoy some web development, but haven't had much experience with it since college and haven't had any reason to delve deeper into it. Recently, I've had a few people approach me about building websites for them for a salary, so it's started to spark some interest into that field again. I have experience with several languages: Java, HTML, C#, ASP, SQL, PL/SQL, some Objective-C, C. But it's only at a very intermediate level, nothing advanced like Java servlets, Cocoa, or .NET framework specific. In my spare time, I'd like to delve deeper into something more advanced. I love the Mac platform for development just because a lot of things are built into the system already. Some languages I'm thinking of looking into are:
1. Java (specifically Tomcat and Spring)
2. Objective-C (Cocoa, iPhone)
3. Ruby (Rails)
I know #1 and #3 are more web specific and might be beneficial because of my background in web development, but I really like the surge going on with Objective-C and the Mac and iPhone platforms. But would this help on a career level? I want to pick one where there's a strong demand for it and something that puts food on the table. I'm not talking about just writing apps for the app store, but writing apps for businesses that use Macs. It just seems like it's hard to land an entry or junior level job out therre without some type of experience. My main experience now is just education and I'd like to dig deeper into these frameworks out there that are used to work on a project that might gain me experience to show employers. Are there advantages to learning one framework over another or should I just pick one and go with it? I know Java and .NET are used a lot in the enterprise, but it seems like there's no shortages of these developers out there. Not as big a hassle as yours but I ordered a TV off pixmania (UK) and it came with a Euro plug. Phoned to complain and they sent me an adapter.
Not a big deal but I was a bit miffed that they didnt advertise it as Eur plug. I'm a bit paranoid about having it plugged to an adapter all the time (not sure why!)

hahah i just might do the overnight thing! thats taking a big risk of going that late to an apple store, might be at the back of the line LOL!!! most apple stores online are updating to reflect an 8am open on friday, so waiting for Canada's store to say that too :-) Maybe even a reserve as well...
I am 99.9% sure if you show up at an Apple Store at 6am you'll walk out with an iPhone 4 - even if they open at 8am.
Those that showed up at 7am to the Apple Stores during the iPad launch were able to get iPad's.
6am is a safe bet.

Hey Folks.
So today my boss mentioned that it would be really nice to use babel fish to translate our entire website much like what is being done here:

with the babelfish box on the left side.
This actually isn't a bad idea over all, except when I try running our website (http://www.SkiBig3.com) through babel fish it breaks the DHTML drop down menus, I suspect this has to do with the fact that babelfish sticks the site into a frame but I'm wondering if anyone has or knows of a work around for this??

Unless being mobile is a necessity, go with the G5 iMac. The extra horsepower will pay off. The 17" screen also comes in handy when you start adding tracks.
I don't know about the tech spec. You should be able to find this info on Apple's web site.
As for speakers. I use JBL Creatures and have been very pleased with them. They come in white and silver, both of which would compliment the iMac.

Hmmm... the low lite thing is a little troublesome, as I plan on mostly recording my and the guys I play with on gigs. Sometimes the lighting's not too great.
I wonder if the Zi8 is any better? Similar feature set but without the waterproofing.
They don't really give much specific information about the lens on the Zx3 on the Kodak website...
I think you'd be better off with a real camcorder. They have much bigger sensors/lenses and hence better low light performance.

My wife has downloaded a couple of movies via itunes but for the life of me I have burned through dvd after dvd and cant get them to work. He keeps telling me I have a data error when I pop the DVD into one of our players.
What am I doing wrong?
You can't just burn movies downloaded from iTunes to DVD and have it work in your DVD player. Watch them on your computer or stream them to an Apple TV.

Obviously it's faster, but has anyone actually checked how much faster? I'd like to switch my main box to the console app but I don't want to lose all the work I've done on this WU.. Is there a way to do that, or should I just bite the bullet and lose the current WU?

No, I guess not. I could probably do copy and paste. I was trying to use the screen shot feature instead to see how it works.
When you took the screenshot, the shot screen loads in a new Preview window. Press CMD+A, then CMD+C to copy it.

This is indeed a well known issue with cubes. Some people were affected immediately, and others only after a period of time like you.
My cube has a 'seizure' about once every 4 months and it will do this for an hour or two and then correct itself and be fine again.
There have been numerous causes and solutions suggested and it appears that different things work for different machines.
The usual cause is the proximity switch - the touch sensitive one on top of the cube. Most people report that the switching on and off is caused by a badly fitting or loose gasket around this switch inside the cube.
Some people say that making sure this gasket is seated firmly will cure the problem, and others have had this replaced (for free) by Apple.
I have never found this to be the case with mine, it just seems to have a mind of its own, for short spells every now and again.
Some people have also reported that this happens on hot days or when the air-con is swithed off. I've not noticed this (as I live in the UK it never gets hot!).
There have been hundreds of discussions on this topic since the cube was introduced and you can probably find some useful info on the web.
I'm not sure why Apple have not provided more help on this topic given what a widespread issue it was/is, but I just searched Google for "Apple Cube Switch problem" and it came back with a lot of links. Bear in mind that the solution for one cube may not help yours! I guess this is the price we have to pay for having the coolest computer the world has ever seen :D
