Alright so here's my problem, my sister brought home a Macbook from her school and she just finished editing an iMovie file, and her friend needs to keep it at her house. I did screen sharing and I was going to upload the file to my dropbox from the computer, but the computer has a password to enter Safari, and won't let you go to any websites without the password. Is there any way to bypass this with some terminal command, or any other way to bypass the password just so I can upload this file to my dropbox.

You might even be able to swap the hard drive right into the new Mac and it should boot just fine depending on the age of the Intel if it can run the same software version. This is handy if you don't want to reinstall everything and keep your old settings and files.
Wont the OS 'be PPC', preventing it from booting on intel hardware, and also devoid of drivers? I know the apps included on OS X are UBs, but isn't the 'core' either PPC or x86?

do you know (or have a way to check) the battery cycles on the ibook battery?
i.e.

Not sure, I know that it will get you between 1.5 - 2 hours charge. Good for a back up in a pinch. Let me know!

Hello,
I would like to create a simple iphone app for my sports team, all it would need to include is:
-twitter feed
-youtube feed
-rss news feed from the main site
-schedule
-map
Am I right in thinking that the only software I need is xcode 4 and a developers license to get the app into the app store?
I have some experience in coding, mainly HTML. From the screenshots of xcode 4, it looks similar to dreamweaver in that you can work in a GUI(add table by clicking on the table button) or by coding it.
Is it that simple, or am I getting it wrong?
Also, if I buy a developers license for a year, what happens after that year? Does the app stay in the store, but I cannot update it, or does it disappear from the app store?
Apologies if these are stupid questions, I have looked for an answer, but have come up with nothing so far.

I salvaged 4 of the 1st generation iMacs from a storage closet. Unfortunately the RAM is so abysmal that I can't begin to install OS X.
I can't find OS 9.x install discs for a reasonable price. They're all a fortune.
If anyone can help me acquire, borrow, copy, torrent, whatever a version of this OS we (my students and I) would appreciate it.
Of course, you're asking, "What the heck will students do with these relics?" We have kids with multiple disabilities. We're running some VERY basic software, games, etc. So these iMacs will provide basic functionality needed.

If you don't do that, OS 9 won't install. if its been running 8.6 or higher, it should be fine. This applies to all tray loading iMacs.
If its a slot loader, you don't have to worry about it.

You missed the real story -- in the release notes Apple explain that they're deprecating the Apple maintained version of Java:

Apple have provided a mechanism for installing 3rd party JDKs (in particular OpenJDK), but it likely won't work with current versions of Java IDEs (Netbeans, Eclipse etc) until they're updated to work with the new paths.
I wonder if this is anything to do with Oralce?

Have fun, Warhay. Among Apple stores in Southern California, it's one of the best places to hang out or wait in line, at least in daytime or evening hours. I've been to a few Apple events there and it was always lively. Probably not as lively at 4am. If you'll be online, let us know what the line is like when you get there.

You might also try the free osx usb webcam driver. There is a list of supported cams hereclick here (http://webcam-osx.sourceforge.net/)
Hope this helps. Worse comes to worse, you can probably get into a cheap usb cam for about 20-30 $$.
