I'm learning about the Picker View and was pretty disappointed that the book didn't go beyond basic stuff. I went thru several other books and online as well as the built in Apple help.
Not one had an example of putting a pic inside the Picker.
The book was a single column, no example of multi column, or custom widths or loading from array.
I still don't know if you make a separate array or multi dementional array, do pics get loaded from url or into array 1st, is there a refresh method if you wish to change the values from another object (say a button the changes the value of a pic or text inside the picker)
Basically I need MUCH more detail, eight book and not one goes into good detail.
Is there any book that REALLY gets under the hood and opens things up?
Of all the programming help/docs/books I read, it's pretty hard to imagine there's not a better book than these.
Amazon's preview thing is pretty worthless, can't get into the meat of the book, the 'contents' doesn't tell you enuff.
Thanks, KarlJay.

I almost pulled the trigger on Super Stardust HD. There's a bundle of the game with the DLC for $14.99 which seemed like a good deal, but then I saw the Gundemonium Collection bundle which looked really sweet so I ended up getting that. Geez if I had seen that game to begin with I could have saved myself from making a thread! :D
It's a set of 3 chaotic anime-style shooters, that get pretty difficult. They're short (I already beat one) but they're totally worth playing over and over.
Though next time i have $15 sitting in my PSN account I'll get Super Stardust HD, the demo was really fun. :p
Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

It would be a bit hard to do that as Apple releases the beta's to developers and then they chronicle the details here on MR and other sites. The only way for them to hide anything would be to release a version to the public that was never beta tested. Which of course would likely lead to a lot of bugs and a bad user experience.

The current jb programs aren't as easy as jailbreakme.com. Considering the OP is too lazy to research what's available, the jb programs might require too much effort.
It is very easy to jb 4.2.1 now. The improvements to the OS certainly make it worthwhile as does the ability to run all the latest apps. Virtual memory hack is no longer required.

Sorry, I meant Oracle have discontinued their Oracle database for OSX.. the last release for OSX was Oracle 10g. Oracle is now 11g.
No, good point, Oracle probably shouldn't have bothered. Maybe it was a pet project for an internal developer that died on the vine?
Agreed - they aren't particularly pretty but since OO v3 things have got better with the use of Aqua. However, I'd rather them look ugly and have them not available on OSX at all...
My objection is that someone who won't or can't bother to put a little polish on an application to make it meet the :apple: HIG, probably won't put much effort into the platform-specific support issues that invariably crop up. Personally, if I wanted to run a Linux application I'd run the Linux OS. But I see where you're coming from.

Have been running Folding (GUI) on three Macs for the past few months:
PB G4 1.33GHz, 1GB RAM, 24x7
iMac G4 800, 1GB RAM, 24x7
iMac G4 700, 576MB RAM, 24x7
Combined, those have been averaging about 2,600 points per month for me.
Just added today (console):
a 3.6GHz Xeon, 1GB RAM, 800MHz system bus
a Dual 2.4GHz Xeon, 2GB RAM, 400Mhz system bus
How much of a jump in production should I see?

I'm pretty good programming in PHP and Javascript, but now I need something that allows me to create simple desktop apps. Mostly it will be for automation scripts, too much for Apple Script, but not complex enough to jump into Cocoa and Objective-C. Examples: Manipulating text files (sorting, dupe line checking, adding/cutting parts, splitting/combining files etc.), uploading a file to several different FTP servers, sending POST requests to a server.
I often hear Pearl and Python mentioned and I believe they are pre-installed on the Mac, but I don't know much about them. What's the main difference? Which one (or something else?) would be best suited for these tasks? Which one is easier to learn?
Bonus: What's a good site to learn for someone who has general programming knowledge, but is a total noob with those languages?

I have to disagree i don't think its too invasive and works very well with the tone of the imagery.... i have seen reels with alot worse choices in music... my own is a prime example... :D
Also you can see that the reel has been cut using the track at certain parts... so changing it would require re-editing the whole sequence.
A reel should be recut once a month if you are doing a bunch of work. But, me being 32 I like it. I know from people I have worked with the DVD would have been taken out and dismissed 15 seconds in by some agency suits. Remember, a reel is to show your work... since this is a graphics reel it should be about the graphics and not so in your face with hip-hop.
If you could find a 'karaoke' version of the song with no lyrics it would help the cause. My $.02
PS.. your motion graphics are sick. Good work!

Travel Express and the Wallet, both from sfbags, are the only two bags I've read about which might meet your criteria - they aren't messenger bags, and are a little larger than your normal sleeve to hold accessories.
I haven read any real reviews of either, just found them doing my own research.

I've always fell for the "hauntingly beautiful" line, and I think it definitely fits with her. I have the album before this one (which I believe is her debut?) and had no idea a new one came out -- I'll have to check it out.

I really like my OtterBox Defender, as I mentioned in my review above I almost did not switch over to the the Ivyskin Q3. It is thick, it will not work in any of my docking ports but for protection you can't beat it. OtterBox has a new case in the works that my be of interest here. It has not been released yet it is called the Reflex, see the link below. According to the description it has the protection of the Defender with a slim design and a snap off bottom for docking. It sounds very interesting. :)
