The only thing uglier than a Scion is a Scion iPhone theme.
Yes, that is one butt-ugly screen.
I have to say I'm not sure Toyota isn't just saying Apple made them pull this after someone with a modicum of design sense looked at it and noticed it is uglier than an Edsel/Gremlin/Aztek 3-way love child that should have been smothered at birth.
From Apple's perspective, such a skin devalues the iPhone brand, pure and simple. Go to Android if you want freedom to be as tasteless as you want.

I get the feeling they are not really making any money on it, so it would make sense to give it away as a benefit of "using a mac."
I cant remember where it was mentioned, but I recall (dreamed?) that Apple had 1 million paid-up MobileMe members at one stage. If you even multiply that by the lowest amount you can purchase it for, thats what, $69 million a year. Cant be losing that much money.
Maybe an apple giftcard for the difference? Like apple did for the early adopters of iPhone 2G when there was a price drop
At least thatd make me buy a product Ive had my eye on but havent had incentive to take the plunge ;)
The best option is to cover both ends.
I like this idea but not the following one
Free MobileMe as an iAd platform? That sounds about right. Paid MobileMe without the iAds? I think we're getting somewhere now...
Id still pay in this case, but the price better not increase :(

crap. :( I just got a new phone.Same here. I just got a LG cu500 from Cingular to use as a mobile broadband modem. I have one month to return it, which is proof that Apple will come out with a G3 phone/ipod/can opener in 32 days.

Come on Apple you can do it ..
Having bought a good chunk of my media library of iTunes I would love to back that up into the cloud .. wirelessly syncing my phone would be heaven.
Hopeing Apple has something good up their sleeves.
T.
LOL..yeah Windows Phone beat them to the wireless syncing..what a joke Apple!

I remember in elementary school, learning about the metric system since we were all going to switch to it. That never happened. I wonder why....
A fair question.
Ask NASA about the 'problem' with the Mars orbiter (http://articles.cnn.com/1999-09-30/tech/9909_30_mars.metric.02_1_climate-orbiter-spacecraft-team-metric-system?_s=PM:TECH). :D

Unless they can do it at a very low cost, I cant see them doing it at all. The rackmount market for the mac was minuscule with pretty much just specialist research and university/college networks using them. It would probably cost a lot in R&D to redesign the Pro, when it doesn't really need it. Its a functional design which is in keeping with the rest of the range.
As a Pro user, I'd LOVE to see new updates, but they should really be advances that you would expect from the Pro range:
- Better support for graphics cards
- Advancements to processor usage (4x CPU's for example)
- RAID card support
- Thunderbolt
- Fiber
you get the point.
Generally there is little NEED to use Macs in a server environment as its pretty much always possible to do it with Linux, and some cases Windows. I'm not denying that it has its uses, but the size of this market has made it impractical.

awful program
locked up my mac multiple times and possibly was the cause of my bootcamp partition getting completely ruined
was working fine until i ran this
I wouldn't mess with the Bootcamp partition, regardless of the AV.

Yay let us all surrender our privacy to the cloud... Sometimes I feel like the only one that understands the long term implications cloud based computer has when we allow our content and log files on others' servers. Thankfully I know I'm not the only one though.
Here's to hoping they correct the obvious problems like notifications, poor photo organizational control, a corrected USB voltage, and a simple central file system (I know, not holding my breath).

I would be happy with the *real* replacement for the 12" Powerbook. Can't work with that gloss screen, and can't bear the integrated graphics. Apple need to get real if they want professionals like photographers to buy a new laptop.
What "pro" apps did you try to run that didn't run well on the integrated graphics?

IF apple is not collecting the data, then what's the point of the file in the first place. Or, how come there is not a way for users to delete this file on the phone when they see fit. Sure, all the carriers are collecting all data, per patriot act and newer laws enacted since.
Someone should ask steve this question?
Does any government agency collect this data, through apple, or by other means? I'll bet he will hee haw around this question!
This stuff is part of the cloud computing. You will have a advertisement come across your phone when you go into areas that advertise through the phones. All of them will be doing this. Part of the business model. Get used to it as there is nothing we can do about it besides shutting your phone off and getting rid of them.

Android is winning 'cause it's cheaper than apple, which is from the recession, people want cheap when they both do the same with a few minor exceptions.

I think this rumor can be readily discredited.
Apple has been trying for a few years now to streamline product updates so that they happen like clockwork once per year.
The past few macbook pro updates have been in the spring/late winter, macbooks are seemingly being updated prior to the Back to School deal, iPods are updated in September towards the end of the student sale, iPhones have launched in June every year, iPad and iPad 2 both began selling in the spring, and while iMacs haven't had a clear pattern emerge yet, it appears to be coalescing around 1 year and I think it's safe to say that as time goes on, a yearly cycle will become dominant.
Despite the news of Lion being almost ready (or ready) for Golden Master, I think it's more probable that Lion is put on hold until iOS 5 is ready to launch as happened with Leopard and to a much lesser extent, Snow Leopard. Apple makes far more money and gets far more worldwide press from the iOS family than it does the OS X lineup. At this point, not launching an iPhone and a new OS for it in June would go against 4 years of pattern and practice, and would cause too much negative publicity, especially in the face of a constantly evolving market where a few months of lag time can cost a company vital market share and mindshare.

I am new to this forum, and a true novice with tomtom and car kits. I just downloaded the application onto my iPhone, and then setup the car kit. It works fine. What I have is probably what sounds like the dumbest of questions:
What is the car kit's resistance to cold temperatures? I live in Cleveland, OH and if I live the mount in the car for a whole day during winter, will the chips or anything be damaged?
Do you advice dismounting the kit every time I park for a few hours, and/or for the night? My garage is not heated.
Thanks!
I use to live in Minneapolis so I understand these kind of concerns, but I'm really not sure. My instinct is to say take it in overnight, but what a pain! It gets pretty cold where you are, but not bitter cold like in MN. Why not email TomTom and ask them by sending the temperature range for your area?

Putting it on the Mac App Store raises an interesting issue about licencing - they said that purchases could be used on any Mac that you use.
That opens them up to a lot of abuse.
How so?
The current method is "the OS DVD you buy can be used anywhere, as often as you like, forever."
How could it be worse than that?

It's naive to assume that Apple won't use MobileMe data in the future to serve you ads.
Given the [lack of acceptable] performance of the current service, all of these things are just going to be painful to use. If they can devote some more bandwidth to them, I could see it being a hit.
i am hoping that the new datacentre will improve the current problems that we mobileme uses are experience.
and i yes those are a great idea
free mobileme with iads
paying users no ads
one can hope, i don't want ads in my mail, i have yahoo and gmail for that.. :)
